Leg Day is a VR physical therapy treatment game that we developed for Neuro Rehab VR using the HTC Vive and Vive Trackers.
This experience takes place in a serene dojo and zen garden with the soft sound of birds in the background. Leg Day focuses on a patient’s legs and can be played either sitting down or standing up assisted.
The objective of this game is to simply kick volleyballs into wooden targets in the distance. The mechanics were designed to be very simple and intuitive, yet addicting so patients are encouraged to play repeatedly. There are three levels of increasing difficulty as well as the option to amplify the in-game avatar’s leg movements if assistance is needed.
Our team enjoyed the challenges of implementing an inverse kinematics system for accurate limb tracking. In addition, we took an extra step to implement combos for hitting multiple targets in rapid succession. Finally, we implemented a feature to export useful player data such as average angular velocity after every game for the clinic’s records.
Our client was very satisfied with our timely deliverables, art asset quality, and communication, and we are excited to continue exploring ways to impact the healthcare field with them.
